Willamette University: PSYC 270, Introduction to Psychology, Fall 2011
Professor Rachelle did a great job teaching this course. Always had a great attitude and was always willing to answer questions. She really encouraged students to succeed and was very helpful. She offered help with studying or understanding outside of class which was very generous. A great professor! I hope to take another course from her next fall. Thank you!
Thank you so much for the extra time you spend helping me. I feel much more confident of the subject matter now! The paper assignments especially challenged me to apply the concepts learned in class and “think outside the box.”
This has been my favorite class at Willamette!! I have immensely enjoyed the material, even though the course itself was challenging. I think that Professor Yankelevitz taught the class very well, and I feel very prepared for future psych classes.
Portland State University
PSY 346, Learning, Fall 2011
Comprehensive and well-illustrated, step-by-step lessons which follow a logical order that facilitates learning well. Applies theoretical concepts to real world applications at each step and challenges students. I loved the amount of structure! I knew exactly what was expected from me from day one, and all the tools to get an A were provided. I felt in charge of my own learning.
Honestly, this is one of the best professors I’ve seen in the psych program. She’s hard, but really thorough, straightforward, knowledgeable, and welcoming. The format of the class is demanding, but you (anyone) can get through it. Very satisfying to do well here. It takes a lot to put a great class like this together.
I have taken many psych classes at both U of O and PSU and am now a senior, and this class was one of the best classes I’ve had. The professor was extremely welcoming of questions and encouraged discussion making class interesting and relevant. She was also extremely knowledgeable and answered questions clearly and patiently.
The instructor was well prepared each class and she seems to really know the subject. I liked that I learned a lot in this course but that she was personable when teaching it. This made it easier to take the difficult concepts in.
Informative, applicable to real life, interesting. The instructor is knowledgeable, organized, and makes materials easier to understand.
This was a challenging class with lots of great information. The instructor really knows her stuff and I could tell she enjoyed teaching about it. Thanks!
The teacher did a wonderful job of presenting and clarifying complicated concepts from the book. Examples and discussion really helped learning.
Dr. Yankelevitz is obviously very knowledgeable, is very clear about her expectations, and fields questions remarkably well.
This course is very eye-opening. It’s very thought provoking and challenging to my normal way of thinking. I liked that everything that was expected of us was clearly stated in the syllabus. I also really liked the instructor. She has a good sense of humor and made class pleasant.
This was a challenging course, with a lot of information and concepts to cover. Yet this was my favorite course of the term. I felt like this class was totally worth my time and money and will benefit me a lot in the future. A lot of the class success was because of the instructor. She did an awesome job. Challenging yet clear and easy to understand.
I liked that she really seemed to enjoy when students ask questions. Some teachers brush off people who want to know more but she welcomed everyone to share their opinion. If someone was wrong she would correct them in a constructive way that would make the student feel comfortable.
The material and rules governing the class were made known at the start. The instructor stood by them and was fair as well as being approachable, and interesting.
